November 2003: Canon’s new CanoScan 3200F flatbed scanner, which retails for only $269, offers one-touch scanning of photos and documents plus a top resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi.
Featuring a fast USB 2.0 interface, the CanoScan 3200F is compatible with Windows and Macintosh computers and includes a built-in film scanner for negatives and slides. One-touch Scan/Copy/E-mail/File buttons make document and photo scanning easy and the convenient PDF file function allows easy creation of multi-page PDF documents. This is an excellent way to archive and share documents and photo album pages or collages.
A smart Multi-Photo mode allows users to scan several images in a single pass. Prints are simply placed on the scanner platen and the software automatically reads and straightens images before saving them as separate files.
The CanoScan 3200F also comes with Ulead DVD PictureShow 2 SE software, which allows scanned images to be incorporated into slideshows and viewed on a TV screen or PC monitor. This application can also be used for archiving image files to CD.
Another handy feature is an easy connection between Canon scanners and Bubble Jet printers, which supports one-touch colour copying from scanner to printer via a connected PC. Bundled software includes ScanGear CS, CanoScan Toolbox, ArcSoft PhotoStudio, ScanSoft OmniPage SE, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and electronic manuals in PDF and HTML formats.
