April 27, 2011: Nikon Australia will release the AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G to stockists around Australia on Thursday, 2 June.
Featuring a new optical design in which an aspherical lens element is included to provide superior rendering and pleasing blur characteristics, the new lens has a built-in Silent Wave Motor (SWM) to ensure quiet autofocusing. It is compatible with all Nikon DSLR cameras, including the entry-level Nikon DX-format digital-SLR cameras such as the D5100 and D3100, which are not equipped with an autofocus drive motor.
Covering an angle of view of 31 degrees 30 minutes with Nikon DX-format cameras (or 47 degrees with FX models), the new lens has a minimum aperture of f/16 and will focus down to 45 cm. It accepts 58 mm filters and comes with front and rear end caps, the HB-47 bayonet hood and CL-1-13 flexible lens pouch. RRP is $299.
