September 26, 2006: Adobe’s new Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Premiere Elements 3.0 software is now available for Windows PC users.
Announced near the beginning of this month, Photoshop Elements 5.0 expands the image editing capabilities of this popular application. It also adds new functions like an interactive Adobe Flash-based photo gallery service, called Adobe Photoshop Showcase, which allows photos to be shared for free, or upgraded to an extended sharing service via a Web site. A new Map View associates photos with the place they were taken and provides and fun and interactive viewing experience. Quick and easy fixes let users fine-tune colour and lighting and new tools allow them to create rich black and white photos from colour originals or adjust colour curves.
With its simplified user interface, Premiere Elements 3.0 makes it easy to start creating video movies. Video clips can be imported from nearly all digital media devices and enhanced with ease in the new Monitor window. Drag-and-drop functionality makes it simpler to experiment with effects, filters and transitions and the new Sceneline, an alternative to the traditional Timeline, provides an easy way to assemble movies. Completed video movies are easily burned to DVD complete with menus and scene indexes or they may be shared via portable devices or saved in Flash format for online use.
Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Premiere Elements 3.0 for Windows are available separately for an estimated street price of AU$189 (inc GST) and NZ$199 (ex GST) each. The Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 plus Premiere Elements 3.0 for Windows bundle is for an estimated street price of AU$259 (inc GST) and NZ $299 (ex GST). Adobe’s complete digital imaging and digital video line is available at www.adobe.com and other major electronics and online retailers.
