Adobe has announced the immediate availability of the latest versions of its Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements consumer photo- and video-editing software.

The new Photoshop Elements 13 and Premiere Elements 13 applications provide easy-to-use editing tools and guided techniques to help users achieve high-quality results. A new addition this year is Elements Live: a dynamic channel within the software that provides tips, tricks and inspiration from within the application. Regularly updated to deliver fresh content, the Elements Live portal covers all levels of end-users’ expertise from how to get started to inspiration and tutorials on more complicated techniques.

Improvements included in Photoshop Elements 13 include:
– Better Photo Mashups through easier ways to copy people or objects from one photo to another. The new Photomerge Compose is as easy as copying and pasting and can be used in conjunction with the new Refine Selection Brush and Adobe’s Match Color Tone tool for automatic  blends lighting and shading.
– Users can easily combine Facebook Cover and Profile photos with text and graphics to create an integrated layout.
– Three new Guided Edits add flair to black and white photos with pops of colour or fine-tuning for a more dramatic approach.
– A new Effects Variations function offers four additional Customise Photos options per look to provide a total of 50 ways to tailor photos with a single click.
– Intelligent Crop Suggestions is a new tool that analyses faces, horizons and other photographic elements to recommend four different crops based on the rules of composition.
Premiere Elements 13 includes the following enhancements:
– Favourite Moments tagging can be used to mark the best parts of a clip, and then assemble them into a short movie ready for sharing.
– Users can add video footage to movie titles with Video in Titles or apply a blur or other popular effects to specific areas of the frame with Effects Masking.
– An enhanced Shake Stabiliser enables users to produce steady movies from clips recorded with hand-held smart-phones and action cameras.
– Video Story uses themes based on occasions such as Wedding and Birthdays to automatically assemble clips and add transitions and music based on the chosen theme to produce a polished finished piece.
– The Elements Organiser helps users to compile photos and videos into a themed slideshow complete with transitions and automated music. (Users can also choose an MP3 file from a personal collection.) The Slideshow function will sync the pace based on the beat of the selected song.
