Adobe has released a public beta version of Photoshop Lightroom 2.0 for Windows and Macintosh computers.

April 3, 2008: Adobe has released a public beta version of Photoshop Lightroom 2.0 for Windows and Macintosh computers.
Photoshop Lightroom 2.0 beta program builds on the success of the first Lightroom beta program and provides photographers with early access to the next release plus the ability to provide feedback to Adobe to ensure this release meets their needs. Lightroom provides a workflow application that allows photographers to quickly work with raw format images. It includes facilities for image management and showcasing in print, dynamic slideshows and interactive Web galleries that are a simple to produce. Lightroom’s cross platform support allows photographers to work on projects from any Windows or Macintosh computer on-location or in the office.
This early preview provides some worthwhile enhancements including:
Localised corrections to enhance specific areas of an image for unsurpassed nondestructive flexibility and control reminiscent of the traditional darkroom dodge and burn experience.
Improved organisational tools that let users find the images they need quickly and easily.
Multiple monitor support for more efficient management of photographic workflow and presentation.
Flexible print package functionality for creating custom layouts containing multiple sizes of a photograph on a single page.
64-bit support to take advantage of the latest hardware architectures with improved memory handling and performance.
The Lightroom 2.0 beta program is available for use by all current Lightroom customers. If you don’t already own a copy of Lightroom you can download the beta and try it for thirty days. If thirty days is not enough time, Lightroom customers can invite friends to try the beta with them for the full length of the program.
