June 2, 2008: Adeal chose the PMA Australia 2008 Imaging Technology Show in Brisbane last weekend to announce its acquisition of the agency for the Kata Photo range of products.
Kata was founded in 1983 by two friends who were members of an elite military unit. In 2005, the company joined the Vitec Group and began expanding its offerings under the Photographic Division of Vitec. With design headquarters and part of its manufacturing facilities based in Israel, Kata designs, develops, and manufactures quality, state-of-the-art protection and carrying technologies as well as body armour and protective solutions. All video-photo products are ergonomically designed to suit the human frame and promise an excellent balance between protection and light weight that fits the user.
Two camera backs that will be of particular interest are the R-103 backpack (RRP $295) and the T-214 Torso Sling (RRP $155). The former is the largest of a series of three backpacks that are designed to provide quick access to the camera in the central compartment while the remaining items in the pack are kept secure. It has an ergonomic harness with cushioning and shock absorption that provides optimal ventilation plus good weight distribution and five-point adjustment.

This allows them to be attached to a W092 Waist Pack or one of the Kata backpacks. The T-214 can accommodate a large DSLR with lens attached plus a range of accessories. the lid is secured by a wide ‘hook and loop’ fastener and a side-release buckle whilch allows it to be moved quickly to the front of the body.
