July 10, 2006: The annual exhibition of Australian Digital Art & Photo Technology (ADAPT) opens at the Melbourne Park Function Centre on Thursday July 13 at 10.00 am.
The exhibition, which showcases the latest in equipment, media and image reproduction techniques, runs for two-and-a-half days, ending on Saturday 15 July at 1.00 pm. Visitors can attend free workshops on various aspects of image reproduction on each of the days. ADAPTs Platinum sponsor, Epson, is showcasing Matt Hoyle’s Yesterday in America exhibition of large format prints all made on Epson inkjet printers using K3 Ultrachrome inks. Canon will be conducting workshops in a working art reproduction studio, using its 16.3-megapixel EOS 1D camera to acquire the images and a range of imagePROGFAF 12-colour printers (up to 60-inches wide) for reproduction. Leading digital printing equipment and media supplier, DES, once again has a big presence at ADAPT. DES’s specialist trainer, David Crowther, will share his advanced colour management knowledge with ADAPT delegates in a free workshop.
High-quality digital cameras and camera backs from Canon, Hasselblad, Pentax, Phase One, Nikon, Kodak/Leaf and others will be on display this year. There will also be demonstrations showing how these CCD and CMOS digital capture devices can be used to copy artwork for limited edition reproductions; with proper lighting and colour management. A full range of professional photographic and lighting equipment is represented by two of ADAPTs exhibitors, Borge’s Imaging and Kayell Australia.
Paper suppliers Giclee Media Supplies, Celmac, Heidelberg Fine Art Wholesalers and Image Products will also have products on show. Winners of this year’s ADAPT Awards will also be displayed. Full details can be found at the ADAPT website (www.adaptshow.com.au).
