How does the SilverFast Printer Calibration work?
The ICC Printer Calibration uses your existing flatbed scanner as a measuring tool, avoiding the need for additional and more expensive hardware. Colours are easily adjusted using SilverFast’s automatic IT8 Calibration device for profiling the printer; it’s an all-in-one-solution.
SilverFast Printer Calibration tool allows you to obtain the most impressive results in just two steps.
The first step is to print a test chart and scan this chart with your IT8 calibrated scanner. SilverFast calculates an ICC profile for your printer and the selected paper and ink combination.
Next step is to print a full gamut printer target containing 1.026 fields and over 1.000 tonal values. While the printer target is being scanned, SilverFast is automatically generating and saving an ICC-profile for the chosen printer-paper combination in the systems’s ICC-profile directory. This ensures that the entire available colour space will be used with the maximum number of colours.
With the included ICC Profile Editor, the generated profiles can even be edited according to the user’s preferences. The inherently complex task of colour space adaptation is very easy to manage. Based on the generated ICC profile a new target is printed, then you select the most neutral tonal values according to your perception.
After this, SilverFast computes a personal user profile and saves it.
In order to benefit from this unique Printer Calibration feature, the user needs an IT8 Target for scanner calibration and either a SilverFast Ai Studio 8.5 version or the most comprehensive Archive Suite 8.5.
For a little more investment it is highly recommended to get the Archive Suite 8.5 as it lets you enjoy a full workflow.
Archive Suite 8.5 includes the scanner software SilverFast Ai Studio 8 and the imaging software SilverFast HDR Studio 8. With its “non destructive workflow”, it is claimed to be the only option available in the market which allows the user a total control of image workflow, from the scanning of material through to its optimization for a perfect result.
SilverFast Printer Calibration – the ideal tool for image lovers
By using SilverFast printing calibration, photographers can be sure that the colour space reproduced by the printer is being used in the most comprehensive and uncompromised way. Moreover, the “Error-free” workflow controlling the entire process from scan to print-out, allows professional photographers, fine art printers, as well as amateur photographers to quickly obtain optimum results.
Furthermore, the wide spectrum of printers, ink and paper types being supported by the latest SilverFast version allows you to experiment and print with an incredibly broad portfolio of materials at any time.
