Negative space is a fundamental concept across all of the visual arts, including photography.

Imagine a photo of a single cloud in a bright blue sky.

The cloud, being the subject, is positive space and the featureless sky is the negative space.

In such a picture, it is the shape of the negative space ““ far more than the cloud ““ that determines the power of the composition.

So, your challenge is to seek out compositions in which the subject (positive space) is made more vivid through its relationship with the surrounding negative space.

The prizes for this challenge are:

Winner: $250 Momento voucher
Runner up: $150 Momento voucher

Preserve your memories in a premium quality  Momento photo book.
