We’re never quite sure what to expect from our endlessly creative Photo Challengers and the Veiled challenge was no exception to the rule. Winner Pamela Smith earned first place for noticing and then capturing the veiling effect of a horse’s mane. This is the kind of outside-of-the-box thinking we really like to see. For her well-executed effort, Photo Review Australia is pleased to send Pamela a JCMatthew 19-inch (48cm) digital photo frame, the DPF-BOM19 HD Pro Series 1280×1024 resolution with secure file technology.

Continuing the equine theme, our very close first runner-up, Amanda Bull’s Whisper of a horse is a beautifully realised image that we think conveys a real sense of atmosphere and mystery. And speaking of mystery John Tarlinton’s moody picture of a misty Blue Mountains morning has the look of another time, long before digital photography. Veteran Photo Challenger Roz Krugle is back again with another of her well spotted compositions; this time she picks up on the veil created by an old net on the docks. Also rating a mention for their creativity were pictures by Lyn Watts, Natalie Fogarty and John Tarlinton (again!). Lyn’s picture was another of those images that put us in mind of a different time, thanks to the almost pictorialist quality of the composition.
As always, a big thank you to all who submitted images. First place: Untitled by Pamela Smith First runner-up: ‘Whisper of a horse’ by Amanda Bull Second runner-up: ‘Man in the Mist’.
