The challenge to photograph a special place at a special time turned out to be rather popular. Our winner is a simple and pleasantly mellow image taken by Curl Curl, NSW’s Caue Mello. “The daily walk on the park (Curl Curl). It seems that even Roxy (the dog) got impressed with the sunset.”

Caue will receive an Epson PictureMate 500 printer which uses Epson’s renowned UltraChrome pigment inks for long-lasting results.
Our first runner-up [see below] is a lovely monochrome study called ‘Louie at the Beach’ by Jan Huisken. The second runner-up is John Boyd’s panorama of a dramatic afternoon on his farm.

Honourable mentions go as well to Julie Whitehead for her crow perched on a branch, and for Lauretta Woodward’s inviting looking image of a favourite spa.

Thanks to one and all for your entries. To enter the next Photo Challenge see the current issue of Photo Review Australia magazine.

First runner-up: Jan Huisken, Louie at the beach. “My Newphew Louie enjoying Frankston beach last summer, he was visiting from the UK and really fell in love with Australian beaches. They are one of my favourite places too.”

2nd runner-up: John Boyd. “Even though I have owned my own home for many years my parents’ farm is my special place, the place that is home to me. I took this 3 shot panorama about a month ago, the green grass is a welcome change from the 4 years of drought they have recently been through. The time just happened to be right when I took the photo with the golden light below the storm clouds, however I had to rush the shots a little as a few spots of rain were just beginning to fall on my Nikon D70.”

Honorable mention: Julie Whitehead. “This was taken on a hot lazy Sunday morning at Riverton Bridge WA. The mood was hazy and lazy.”

Honorable mention: Lauretta Woodward, My afternoon delight. “Whenever possible my husband and I get away for the weekend to Springbrook which is located in the Gold Coast Hinterland region. We have our favourite accomodation which houses this wonderful spa. After a long day of bushwalking there is nothing better than relaxing my poor muscles and unwinding, of course accompanied by a nice glass of wine and beautiful rainforest view and listening to the sounds of the rainforest birds. The photo was taken with a Canon 350D with a shutter speed of 30 sec F/3.5 ISO 100.”
