The Light and Shade challenge asked participants to come up with a pair of images, one of which was dominated by light, and the other by shade…

We have to admit to not knowing quite what to expect but, as usual, our challenge-takers responded in pleasingly creative ways.

Winner:  In the Shadows  +  Men in black,  by Ingrid Makowski.

Our winner this time around was Ingrid Makowski.  We liked the way each of her images set the imagination running. Who or what is the person at the shadow-striped table waiting for, and who are the men in black and why are they being photographed from ground level?

Ingrid has won a  $250 Momento voucher.

First Runner-up:  Saleyards (dark) + Saleyards (light),  by Robert Zappia.

Our first runner-up pair of images come from the consistently resourceful Robert Zappia who found two ways to tell the story of a day in the life of a stockyard.

Robert has won a  $150 Momento voucher.

Second Runner-up: Steel #1 + Steel #2, by Susan Shanta.

Susan Shanta’s pair of fork studies reminds us that you don’t have to travel far to see the world in a creative way. Royce Holliday went for a coffee and came back with two sides of the same window, while Penny Oxford made a clever exit – or two.
