As so often happens when we pose a challenge, we were pleasantly surprised by how our contributing photographers responded in their own distinctive ways to the concept of Small vs Large. And we were particularly taken with Susan Shanta’s cheerfully quirky minatures. While we thought both Fork and shadow and Strawberry delight were fun interpretations, we decided that the former should take the guernsey this time around.

Picking up first-runner up status this time around is old hand Robert Zappia with his amusing riff on our challenge theme. Honourable mentions this time around to Susan Shanta and to Wolfgang Martin.

FIRST RUNNER-UP: ‘When I Grow Up I Want To Be A Mountain’ by  Robert Zappia

Taken on one of the short walks in the Mt Cook area in the South Island of New Zealand.
Mt Cook towers 2900 metres over the point where I took this shot. As you may well have guessed, the rock cairn provides the ‘small’ part of the theme.
Tripod used, 1.6 seconds @ f16, ISO 100
Canon 5D MkII & EF 17-40 f4L
