Inspired by Margaret Brown’s article ‘Go Minimalist’ in our Mar-May 2014 issue, we asked photographers to strip out the excess and to distill their images down to the minimum.

And in that spirit, we very much think Greg Toll’s untitled study of shipping channel markers has really pared things right back to the essentials. As our winner this month, Greg will soon receive a Lowepro Pro Roller Lite 250 AW (RRP $345) to pack all his gear in for his next photo adventure.

It was really tough to choose our first runner-up, but in the end, the ever-creative Susan Shanta picks up the guernsey for her pure study entitled simply Purple. Wolfgang Martin noticed the purity of a sinuous track for his sand-and-only-sand untitled image. Also picking up honourable mentions were Roz Krugle for her heroic little ladybird, Blane Coulcher for his surfers chatting out beyond the waves and Robert Zappia for his inscrutable calligraphy of leaves.
