The Reflections Photo Challenge attracted an exceptional number of high quality entries. Indeed, we were so impressed by the high standard and large number of submissions that we decided to triple the number of pages we usually allocate to this section. And even then we had to leave a few very good pictures out of the final group. Happily we have room for the extras here on our website.

As you can see from the images, the judging choice was diabolically difficult. However, choose a winner we must, and so in the final analysis we settled on Peter Steele’s lovely untitled image of a ferris wheel in a puddle. The image has a vibrancy and three dimensional quality that we felt gave it the edge in what is a very strong field. Proving this was no fluke, Peter also earned an honourable mention for another of his photographs.
Our first runner up is Murray Dancey for a beautifully rendered picture of a rice paddy at dawn.
We’re pleased to be sending Peter Steele his prize for the Reflections Photo Challenge which is an Intuos4 Medium graphics tablet from Wacom.

Untitled by Andrew Benfer. ‘I just love this photo! When I look at it, it screams Celebration! It is three different coloured Crucifix orchids from my garden. I achieved it by pulling off all the flowers and dropping them in one big, random pile on a piece of coreflute painted black with a spray of water on it.
