For Photo Challenge #26, we asked photographers to respond with images that somehow conveyed the idea of taking flight. And, as always, our Photo Challengers were up to the task. Our winning image comes to us from Rebecca Cover who has managed to capture her daughter and the family blue cattle dog mid-bounce as they run off to play. We’re pleased to be sending Rebecca a copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements.

It was tough to winnow the submissions down to just a few but in the end, we decided that our first runner-up should go to Mardi Harrison’s humourously elegant shot of a pelican standing on one foot as it prepares for take off. Our second runner-up is Derek Dadswell’s lovely picture of a little person (again, standing on one foot!) flying a colourful kite. And we’ve decided to give an honourable mention to Craig Mitchell for his shot of an airborne skier caught against a dramatically dark background. First runner-up: ‘Taken on my Canon 30D at Queenscliff recently I am always in awe of the pelicans at how graceful they can be for their size. I sat for a hour and took quite a lot of shots.’ Mardi Harrison Second runner-up: Derek Dadswell
