The ‘Young Lovers’ photo happened as I was walking through the blacksmiths section of Gondar market. These two young people were cuddling and laughing oblivious to me, and I indicated that I would like to take their photo. They continued to laugh playfully while the gentleman standing indicated it was fine to take a picture. I was not aware of the smiling girl to the extreme right of the picture until I processed the photo much later. The light for this shot was a lot more forgiving as this area was under a slight cover of canvas.
Don’s response
The young lovers are delightful. I love her joyous expression and the way we can tell that he’s smiling behind her exuberant hug.
It would be fun to play around with the cropping of this image so as to get in tighter on the five figures. You’d lose some of the interesting foreground detail, but it might intensify the story the picture tells.
