As anyone who’s tried their hand at underwater photography knows, the hits are far out-weighed by the misses.
There are so many ways that a picture like ‘Wreck investigation’ by Will Farge could have gone wrong. Happily, it all came together very well.
By getting his subject to grab that pipe (?) at just the right point, she’s framed nicely.
The autofocus and auto exposure have delivered a well-balanced result too. Everything’s sharp and although it might have opened things up had he used some fill flash, the shadow details are still visible enough to do the job. Using a flash could very well have created a blizzard of back scatter, but it would certainly have been worth trying.
