Yes, photographer Cliff Samson is right that this is a straightforward scene in that it is a conventional composition.
But there’s not a snowflake out of place, and there are endless details to be explored – from the pillow-y snow on the branches right, through the sharp delicacy of the leafless bushes along the stream banks and beyond to that imposing mountain with its spiky retinue of trees prickling that distant shore.
