Wilpena Pound is a massive structure 5 hours’ drive north of Adelaide in the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park.

The ranges change appearance through the various forms of light throughout the day, and they are spectacular.

Don’s response

Although you won’t be able tell from the image reproduced here, Gavin Kellett’s beautiful 12-image panorama is exquisitely detailed at full magnification. If it was printed at A0 size its fine details would easily withstand examination from close up.

Overcast days can be a challenge for landscape photography, but in this case it appears there were some sunny breaks which allowed the form and mass of the mountains to emerge as the light dappled their flanks. A strong image.
