Wallaroo Star Trails

Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mk ll; 12-40 f/2.8 lens; ISO 1250

Live Composite 90-min Star Trails.

Don’s response

A fascinating, vigorous image and an impressive example of the Live Composite technology’s capabilities.

While the bold contrast of the building’s horizontal lines and the vertical arcs of the star trails are the dominant features, there are other subtleties to be explored in this picture.

Are those faint straight lines caused by passing aircraft? Or meteors? And is the subtle colour temperature change in the star trails from upper left to lower right the same atmospheric phenomenon that gives us the warm glow of sunsets and sunrises?
