There is something intriguing about this action shot that’s hard to put one’s finger on.
The rider’s position is so beautifully balanced that to this non-rider’s eye, the centre of the picture has a strange, still quality that is quite mesmerising.
The left third of the picture is mildly distracting, but that could be fixed by cropping most of it out to establish a stronger dynamic between the horse and rider and those laconic figures at the rail.
