This is one of my favourite sunset locations on the Gold Coast. In fact, it’s one of the few locations that are worth shooting at sunset.

I was attempting to get some nice water movement, not too “creamy” and not too fast to have no impact. I can’t say that the light was with me that afternoon, but I’m happy with the result.

Don’s response

Your correspondent has to confess to being very familiar with this location; not as a photographer but as a surfer who has many times picked his way carefully across those jagged rocks in bare feet.

I like the way Robert’s composition makes the story about the foreground. The subtle interaction between the closely related colour of the rocks and the sunset sky strikes an interesting visual balance with the pairing of the rocks’ texture and the just-right veil of the rushing water.
