Walpa Gorge is part of the ancient rock formations of Kata Tjuta situated in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in Central Australia.

This is a semi-arid landscape, usually hot and dry. However, on rare occasions the clouds sit low and create dramatic scenes , like this one!

Here I snapped my partner who was about to step foot into the unknown created by the dense fog.

Don’s response

Talk about getting the atmospherics to go your way. This might still have been an interesting image on a clear day, but it is elevated to something special by the misty conditions Steve Genesin experienced on his visit.

Getting his partner to stroll into the scene dials up the mystery vibe to 10 and really makes the picture come together.

Try covering just the human figure and see how much less compelling the composition becomes.
