I had this spot in mind for a while as it is on a route of a walk I do regularly. I got up early to a clear sky overhead but by the time I got to the spot it was obvious that fog was the order of the day.

As I stood there watching the fog for a few minutes I loved the eerie ambiance and modified my approach accordingly.

Don’s response

Ah, serendipity. How often do you transform the best laid plan into something unanticipated and special?

By pausing and opening himself to the unexpected circumstances, photographer Joe Kennedy found the picture that was waiting to be taken.

The soft, almost gauzy sky and the dark and gently muted tonality of the island and those vessels in the distance come together in a most satisfactory way.

Well found and well captured.
