We were at an azalea and rhododendron exhibition and I spotted this little bug walking up and down the stamen of an azalea.

A couple of times he got close to the end and on one occasion he stretched his wings… ‘Click’, and I got this shot.

Don’s response

Moving macro subjects such as this little fellow are not easy to photograph, but Ingrid Makowski has managed the feat pretty well.

The raised forewings are what make this picture work.

Even though the subject is not absolutely tack-sharp, those raised wing covers give the image a dynamic quality because we know that in an instant the tiny creature will flit away.
