Don’s Review
As anyone who has tried their hand at macro photography can attest, it is not as easy as it looks. While the technical challenges can be considerable, the really hard bit is to come up with something that doesn’t just look like a close-up. Photographer George Roberts doesn’t tell us how this photograph came about, but in the end it doesn’t matter. The picture works because not only are the technical matters of focus and exposure taken care of, the composition tells a story. At first glance, it appears to be a sort of nature abstract, but after a brief inspection, the true subject jumps out from the left. Nice work!
