The tumbler’s position in Saga Shiriskar’s On the beach has a fine, energetic quality and the juxtaposition with the group of background figures really transforms it from glanceworthy to something very distinctly in the “look again” category.
The picture works well enough in its present form, but I’d love to have seen Saga get in much tighter to his main subject. The foreground and sky don’t convey much of interest, particularly when contrasted with the highly dynamic main subject and the nicely comported audience.
I think a square frame works well for the image, but I reckon if each side were not much more than say twice the width of the tumbler’s figure, this picture could be something special.
