This photograph was taken during a morning walk. I noticed that the light coming through the forest was concentrated and decided to stay a bit after my friends and I took this picture.

Many years ago I remember my father saying that whenever you saw a picture of someone in National Geographic they were almost always wearing something red.
And much as I like this composition with its natural spotlight effect enhanced by the mysterious trees, I think the figure in red really makes it “pop”. If you cover the white figure, the image still works pretty well, but cover the red one and much of the drama seems to go out of it.
A very successful image and one I’m sure Mr Ribeiro is (justifiably) proud of.
