I went horse riding in the Snowy Mountains NSW with my family – my daughters wanted the romance of riding in the snow!
Woke up one early frosty morning to capture the beauty of the place. I saw these Galahs in the golden morning light and was able to frame them against the moon.

This is one of those pictures where the key elements — and visual relationships they establish — are only likely to last for a moment. You have to compose quickly and hope for the best.
I like Blane’s use of the rule of thirds and the way he creates a triangle relationship between the key elements.
It would be interesting to see how the image looked had it been possible to get the moon in focus as well.
