While they look good in colour I have always had a preference/weakness for black and white. I think it means concentrating on texture, form and composition rather than colour which can sometimes carry an image.
Don’s response
Photographer Don Saunderson sent us three images from his series on these wonderful boulders at Forresters Beach.
This one got the nod because of its nice leading lines and that serendipitously positioned piece of seaweed.
Rendering the scene in black and white was an excellent choice for the reasons Don notes in his description.
This is one of those special locations that can keep a photographer coming back again and again to explore all the angles and moods it has to offer.
