I don’t normally go too much for still life, but thought I would move outside my comfort zone.
I had been drying out these two roses for a while and searched everywhere for the vase I thought would suit the shot. Eventually through trial and error I set up the roses for best effect.
I’m happy with the result – could probably count on one hand the amount of times I have attempted still life.
Don’s response
David Scott’s ‘Diminished Affections’ has a distinctly melancholic air.
The brown, muted palette is just right for the dried flowers and their fallen petals.
One hopes that someone stopped to smell these roses before the scent faded away.
