Unable to leave the house to shoot landscapes due to the recent Covid regulations I decided to turn my hand to still life.

Knowing this bonsai needed repotting I thought it might make an interesting subject for my homebound project.

Turning confinement to a good purpose, photographer Joe Kennedy has created an unusual but quietly intriguing sort of botanical ‘nude’.

A lighter background would have revealed details of the roots more clearly, but I don’t mind the chiaroscuro effect as it subtly boosts the three dimensional structure of the un-soiled bonsai.
