Photographer Asad Rajbhoy’s beach abstract is a beautiful example of this very simple technique.
As long as your camera allows you to control your shutter speed and aperture manually you can create a soothing smooth pan like this one. (It really helps to have a tripod, but even that is not absolutely essential so long as you can set your shutter at a 1/8th of a second or so.)
