Autumn

By Tito Prado

Nikon D800 with an old Russian medium format lens.

Taken in the studio with a light panting technique. I appreciated the soft and warm rendering, suitable for these shots.

Don’s response

Ordinarily when we talk about a photographic composition, we’re really discussing how a picture has been framed through the viewfinder. But for the still life photographer, composition typically is quite literally the physical positioning elements by the photographer.

So rather than finding a pleasing conjunction of such elements in nature, photographer Tito Prado has carefully selected and arranged his found objects in such a way as to evoke autumn.

I rather like his choices here, both in terms of the way they are placed and for the variations of tonality and texture each item brings to the equation.
