Waterproof Housing for Canon HD Camcorders
April 20, 2009: Canon will release a new WP-V1 waterproof camcorder housing for its LEGRIA HF20 and HF200 camcorders next month.

Designed to provide protection to a depth of 40 metres, the WP-V1 housing will enable users to record subjects as close as 30cm from the double-paned lens window when shooting in full wide angle. Multi-coating on both sides of this window minimises the influence of reflected light. A first for Canon video, the WP-V1 makes underwater shooting simple and easy by featuring a large zoom lever for precise operation and oversized, colour-coded buttons to prevent operating errors.

The casing is made from tough polycarbonate, white plate glass and stainless steel. It has a tripod socket and mounting ring to accept 67mm diameter filters. Pricing has still to be confirmed. The Canon WP-V1 waterproof case will be available from May 2009 through Canon dealers nationally. For more information, phone Canon on 1800 021 167, or visit www.canon.com.au
