Seagate Ships New Barracuda Storage Drives

April 24, 2009: Seagate Technology has begun worldwide shipments of a new power-thrifty desktop hard drive family that claims to use up to 50% less electricity than standard desktop hard drives.

Offered in capacities of 2TB, 1.5TB and 1TB, the new Barracuda LP 3.5-inch 5900RPM  drives reduce system power costs and also run quieter than traditional drives and operate at lower temperatures, extending the life of system components.
