August 27, 2008: SanDisk's new Extreme III 30MB/s Edition SDHC memory cards are due for release next month in capacities of 4GB, 8GB and 16GB.
Designed to deliver peak performance with the new Nikon D90 DSLR camera, the new cards are 50% faster then the previous 20MB/second cards. With the D90, users will be able to record bursts of 39 Large/ Fine JPEG images in continuous shooting mode at 4.5 frames per second with a file size of 6.0 MB per image. The new cards will also offer top performance for video capture, which is offered in the D90. Used with SanDisk's new ImageMate Multi-Card USB 2.0 Reader/Writer, the new cards allow still images and video to be transferred to a computer at up to 30MB/second, greatly reducing data transfer times.
All SanDisk Extreme III cards are capable of functioning in temperatures from -25 to 85 degrees Celsius. The cards also carry a lifetime limited warranty. SanDisk Extreme III SDHC 30MB/s Edition cards, which have a Class 6 performance rating, are fully backwards-compatible; working in any camera, card reader or other device that supports SDHC cards.
