Samsung Unveils Six Digital Camcorders

January 9, 2009: Samsung has released details of six new digital camcorders at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this week.

The new models include five full-HD camcorders plus a next generation YouTube-compatible model.  Leading Samsung's H-Series of full-HD digital camcorders is the HMX-H106, which comes with an internal 64GB Solid State Drive (SSD) that has no moving parts and allows the camcorder body to be lighter and compact than other models. Overall power consumption is also lower and SSDs are faster and more reliable than HDDs.

Other models in the line-up include the
HMX-H100, HMX-H104 and HMX-H105. All models use H.264 compression, which significantly increases recording time. They also capture 4.7 mega-pixel digital still photos, feature HDMI connections for playback as well as Optical Image Stabilisation.

The new HMX-R10 is a CMOS-based full-HD digital camcorder that can capture 9-megapixel still pictures. With a lens angled at 25 degrees, it provides a more relaxed grip for shooting videos and stills. It boasts a
5x optical zoom and swivelling 2.7-inch touch screen LCD.

The new
SMX-F34 YouTube compatible compact digital camcorder builds on the success of the SC-MX20 and offers up to three hours of battery life, Schneider optics and  a new 42x  Intelli-Zoom feature that allows users to go beyond the camcorder's 34x optical zoom limit without sacrificing image quality. The high-performance CCD sensor delivers a normal resolution of 720x480 but a special Web & Mobile shooting mode allows users to record in the exact format and resolution required by YouTube, resulting in faster upload times to the Web.
