PowerShot SX1 IS Gets Raw
March 21, 2009: Canon has released the firmware update that adds raw file capture to the capabilities of the PowerShot SX1 IS camera.

Version 2.0.0.0 of the camera's firmware can be downloaded from http://www.canon.co.jp/imaging/dcp/firm-e/pssx1is/index.html, along with instructions for installing the new firmware. An updated camera user guide in PDF format with information about raw shooting with the camera can also be downloaded.

The same website also allows users to update their ZoomBrowser and ImageBrowser software to display raw images captured with the SX1 IS camera. This software will be available until the end of March, 2009. Canon's Digital Photo Professional raw file conversion software is also available for downloading by SX1 IS users who require a sophisticated conversion/editing application. An instruction manual for this software will be available from Canon Australia's website (www.canon.com.au) from the middle of April.
