November 5, 2009: Concurrent with the launch of the Pen E-P2, Olympus has also announced two new M4/3 lenses: the M.Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f/4-5.6 and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm f/4-5.6.
Both are due for release in the first half of 2010. The M.Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f/4-5.6 is an ultra wide-angle zoom lens (35mm format equivalent 18-36mm F4.0-5.6) with a physical length of approximately 50 mm which is significantly more compact than the Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm F4.0-5.6 lens from the Olympus SLR E-System.

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm f/4-5.6 is a wide-angle-to-telephoto lens with a 10.7x zoom ratio (35mm equivalent 28-300mm F4.0-5.6). This compact lens has a barrel diameter of approximately 65 mm and is ideal for photographers who want a one-lens solution for travel and general photography.

When used with Olympus Pen cameras both lenses take advantage of the built-in image stabilisation system on the camera bodies to minimise the effects of camera shake at all focal lengths. ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements will be used in the design of both lenses to suppress colour aberration that can degrade image quality, particularly at wide-angle focal lengths.
Local pricing and availability are yet to be announced. For more information, visit www.olympus.com.au.
