No More Leica R9s

March 27, 2009: Leica has ceased production of the R9 SLR camera and R-series lenses, effective from the beginning of this month.

According to a company statement, ‘
new camera developments have significantly affected the sales of Leica R cameras and lenses resulting in a dramatic decrease in the number sold. Sadly therefore there is no longer an economic basis on which to keep the Leica R-System in the Leica production programme.‘

Some products are still available through Leica dealers and in addition a significant second-hand trade continues. For more information, visit www.leica-camera.com.
