New Olympus Ultra-Zoom Digicam

January 7, 2009: Olympus will extend the range of its ultra-zoom digicams to 26x with the release of the SP-590UZ in mid-March.

Boasting the world's largest optical zoom in a digicam, the SP-590UZ covers focal lengths
ranging from 26mm wide angle to 676mm telephoto in a compact, palm-size digital camera. The lens can focus down to 1 cm and includes three Extra-low Dispersion (ED) lenses to minimise chromatic aberration.  The new camera includes a Dual Shakeproof CCD-shift image stabiliser plus an innovative 'background defocus' function for isolating subjects from a confusing background.

The SP-590UZ comes with a 2.7 inch HyperCrystal II LCD monitor and electronic viewfinder. It supports P, A, S and M shooting modes plus a wide range of pre-sets including Smile Shot and a Beauty mode that uses
Face Detect technology. The face detection system can identify up to 16 human faces and works with Olympus Shadow Adjust technology. Other features include in-camera panorama image composition with an on-screen guide for camera movement, sequential shooting at 13.5 frames per second and a multiple exposure fireworks mode with first-frame display while shooting the second frame.

Pricing is yet to be announced. For more information, visit www.olympus.com.au.
