New Look for Canon's Entry-Level PowerShot

January 15, 2009: Canon will replace its popular PowerShot A470 with a new model, the PowerShot A480, which is slimmer and more compact while retaining its predecessor's key features.

Available in four different colours - silver, black, red and blue - the PowerShot A480 boasts a slim and solid body that is easy to hold and operate. The menu and navigation buttons have been simplified and made more intuitive and 15 scene modes make it easy for users to set the correct parameters for all popular shooting situations from Portraits to Beach or Kids and Pets.

The 3.3x zoom lens covers a useful focal length range. Resolution has been boosted from 7.1-megapixels to 10-megapixels and the
2.5 inch LCD monitor, makes it easy to shoot and view images. The new model retains Canon's innovative Motion Detection and Face Detection technologies but adds a new Image Inspection Tool. This allows users to zoom in on different parts of their shot, such as faces, to check the focusing position and expressions.

The PowerShot A480 is equipped with Canon's DiG!C III image processor. It will go on sale next month at an RRP of $179. For more information, phone Canon on 1800 021 167 or visit www.canon.com.au.
