Leica Releases M8.2 'Safari' Kit

February 12, 2009: Local distributor, Adeal, has announced the release of the special edition Leica M8.2 'Safari' camera.

Part of
a limited edition of 500 cameras worldwide, the new camera is presented in a special edition set containing an olive green finished Leica M8.2 camera body and silver anodised Leica Elmarit-M 28mm f/2.8 ASPH lens with a metal lens shade in classical design and a silver UV/IR filter. Additional to this is a premium quality, real leather carrying strap and matching Billingham camera bag in olive green with brown trim especially made for the 'Safari' edition.

The olive green finish was previously used for two other Leica camera models.  In the 1960's, olive green-painted Leica cameras were supplied to the military and used for unobtrusive surveillance and documentary photography. The second olive green camera model, the Leica R3 'Safari' first introduced in 1977 is today a valuable collector's item. The new Safari kit will be available from late March at an RRP of $15,999.
