November 26, 2008: LaCie's new LaCinema Rugged products represent the latest generation of portable hard disk drives for storing digital images, movies and music files.
Weighing only 250 grams, the LaCinema Rugged drives have a smart and simple user interface and come with a convenient remote control. Each drive comes in a varnished, scratch-protected aluminium shell with a shock-resistant rubber sleeve that provides added protection. The new HDDs are bus-powered and compatible with both Mac and Windows environments. The USB 2.0 interface connects to the computer for easy multimedia loading.
LaCinema Rugged drives are available in 320GB (RRP $399) and 500GB (RRP $499) capacities and feature HDMI (up to 1080i) up-scaling that enables users to watch movies and television programs on any TV set with a composite video and analog stereo or HDMI inputs. They can also enjoy viewing digital photos in full HD resolution. It supports playback of MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (AVI, VOB, IFO, ISO) and MPEG-4 (AVI, XviD) video formats.
