January 9, 2009: LaCie has released details of its latest high capacity storage systems, the Hard Disk MAX and the 2big Quadra, at the CES 2009.
The LaCie MAX is designed by award-winning industrial designer Neil Poulton and delivers 2TB of storage capacity for a suggested retail price of $499. Ideal for users who want advanced RAID features with consumer-level ease of use and style, includes two large-capacity disk drives that can be set in either a RAID 0 or RAID 1 configuration with the simple flick of a switch on the back panel. RAID 0 stripes data across both disks for the fastest data retrieval response time, while RAID 1 mirrors data exactly on both disks for maximum data reliability.
The LaCie MAX external hard disk drive comes with a one year unlimited online backup service.
The front USB 2.0 expansion port on the enclosure can be used to link to another external drive for data backups. A multi-purposed blue LED stripe on the front panel provides ambient light and changes to red to warn of potential problems. The LaCie Hard Disk Max comes with a one year unlimited online backup service, which provides unlimited online backup for one full year after installation.
The easy-to-use 2big Quadra (RRP $999) comes with two extractable, lockable and hot-swappable disks for a user-controlled solution. With four RAID levels, it delivers fast speed, large capacity (up to 3TB) plus data security. eSATA 3Gbits, FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 provide universal compatibility with any PC or Mac. Burst transfer rates as high as 165MB/s (eSATA) are supported, making this drive ideal for audio/video projects (DV and SD video playback or 2D/3D imaging).

A sturdy metal heat sink provides 60% more surface area for natural heat dissipation.
