April 24, 2009: Canon has released firmware updates for its EOS 1000D, 450D and 50D DSLR cameras.

The new updates can be downloaded from www.canon.com/eos-d/ and full instructions are provided for applying them to each camera. Firmware Version 1.0.5 for the EOS 1000D and Firmware Version 1.1.0 for the EOS 450D adds support for the AF assist beam feature of the new Speedlite 270 EX flash unit, which is scheduled for release this month. This facility is also provided in Firmware Version 1.0.6 for the EOS 50D, which also corrects the error indications that are displayed on the camera and the vertical banding noise phenomenon. Updates are also available for the following software applications: Digital Photo Professional, Picture Style Editor, ZoomBrowser EX and ImageBrowser.
