Canon's New High Magnification All-in-One Zoom Lens

August 26, 2008: October 1 will see the release by Canon of a new EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS telephoto zoom lens for EOS DSLR cameras with 'APS-C-sized' sensors.

Targeted at photographers who want an all-round lens that can be used in a wide variety of shooting situations, the new lens
features an 18-200mm high zoom ratio of up to approximately 11 times, spanning wide to telephoto (focal length image equivalent to 29-320mm in 35mm format). Light weight and highly portable, the new lens will be ideal for travelling and situations where saving space is essential. Built-in Image Stabiliser technology provides camera shake compensation of approximately four shutter speeds, giving users greater opportunity to experiment with low-light, tripod-free photography.

The EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens fits all APS-C sized sensor models including the EOS 1000D, EOS 450D, EOS 40D and the EOS 50D. The lens also comes packaged with the EOS 50D and EOS 450D Premium Kits. RRP is still to be determined. Product details can be found at www.canon.com.au.
