Canon Announces Two Tilt/Shift Lenses

February 18, 2009: Canon has added two new tilt/shift professional lenses to its range, one of them the widest angle tilt/shift lens on the market.

The new TS-E 17mm f/4L is a high-quality lens with an ultra-wide angle of view that greatly extends the photographer's shooting options in tight spaces. The
TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II is a second-generation wide-angle tilt/shift lens for general-purpose work.  Both lenses feature aspherical elements to correct distortions commonly experienced in architectural photography plus new SWC (Sub Wavelength Structure Coating) to minimise flare and ghosting. Designed specifically for high-megapixel sensors they also combine a compact size with the highest optical performance in their class.

Canon's new TS-E 17mm f/4L lens offers the widest angle of view for any tilt/shift lens on the current market.

The new TS-E 24mm f/3.5L lens is a fast, general-purpose tilt/shift lens especially suited for architectural photography.
Both lenses contain only
environmentally friendly lead-free glass and both support fast autofocusing via a high-speed CPU and optimised AF algorithm. The new lenses are scheduled for release in May through Canon dealers nationally. Pricing has still to be determined.
